quick recap: new job

Quick catch up with me: I have finished the new teacher training with the head quarter trainer of this institution, and I have also finished in-house training at the centre that I'm working at! The training, as the boss have warned me, was grueling. The first one week I watched around 60 videos which you can't skip because there is test after each video and if your test score isn't 100%, the system will not allow you to go to the next step. 

In the online module it is mentioned that we must dress formally, always with collars and no jeans are allowed. Even sneakers aren't allowed. So there I was, buying my first office shoes at 35 LOL. In the training I met teachers from Bali, Bandung, and Cikupa. I actually don't know how much it pays you as a full time teacher, as I applied as part time. It seemed like a very serious company. Well we're not talking about money here. I just admire how proper and well-equipped this company is, as an English course. 

Di Indonesia ini kan English course kayak mainan aja. Yang gurunya bule, ternyata bule jaksa, wkwkwk. Yang gurunya orang lokal, bahasa inggrisnya alakadar. Mungkin aku mainnya kurang jauh, itu sependek pengetahuanku aja. Kalau dulu waktu masih di Malang, aku di EF dan guru lokalnya keren, guru native nya juga well prepared bukan yang asal ngajar.

Aku jadi merasa semangat lagi ngajar, ada api nya lagi. Kurikulum nya sangat terstruktur dan bikin aku mikir "Wah...anak emang bisa jadi jago banget sih Bahasa Inggris nya kalau silabus ini betul-betul dijalankan dengan benar".

Mereka juga nggak mudah mengizinkan orang baru untuk ngajar. Setelah 2 minggu training, aku masih harus menjalankan simulasi alias pura-pura ngajar dan muridnya itu para teachers. Kalau di tempat ngajarku satu lagi kan cuma micro teaching, itu pun nggak yakin masih dilakukan sampai sekarang atau nggak. Micro teaching itu cuma ngajar 10-15 menit, disingkat yang penting ketahuan secara garis besar cara dia ngajar gimana. Kalau simulasi ini bener-bener ngajar, dan yang jadi murid beneran ngerjain tugas, nulis, dan berpura-pura jadi murid yang speed nulis atau baca nya bervariasi. Karena institusi ini sangat menitikberatkan pada kemampuan membaca dan menulis, jadi teachers itu sengaja nulis nya salah-salah, mau lihat kita bakal benerin atau nggak dan gimana cara benerin nya.

Nah...masa simulasi ini aku stress sih sampe tumbuh jerawat satu.

I would, like usually, open this post by saying "Things are crazy". Yes, I don't know are things really crazy or is it just me. I think it's the latter. Life appears as surprises to me. And I act like a door, opening this tunnel, closing another one. I don't feel dull, and I can't say my days have been dull for they are full with challenges. But I have been so alone. This also sounds weird. Since when that I'm not alone? I always pull myself back from any social event. I hang out alone. I guess the last time I had a good time outside the house/office/campus with another human being was the last Saturday in January, so it's a month ago. It is true that if I just ask, I will get people willing to go with me. But I am the pickiest picky pick ever because most of the times when I don't pick, I get bored with dull conversations, or a view of someone watching his/her phone like there's nothing else to see. Aku masih sakit, nih, blog.. padahal besok udah hari Kamis, harus bekerja di Pingu's. Semoga hari ini sembuh dong, yuk yaaaa...yuuk cepet sehat. Cepet mandi terus ke kampus. Lah kapan istirahatnya?
