Why would Green Day wake up when September ends? Happy Sunday.

I'm alone at Angel-In-Us Bintaro, sipping hot Cappucino and finishing chocolate muffin. slurp! Today I woke up feeling restless. Tired and no energy. I sat like a jellyfish in dining table and mommy greeted me warmly, "Kenapa kok energinya habis setelah kerja sama Mas Don? Kalau abis Kak Adhit nggak habis.. nggak happy ya sama Mas Don?" Hahah..Mom, I really appreciate your care. Awesome that you could feel my fire after practice. But it's not that I was not happy... I was just fokin tired and thought "I'm gonna be sick..." As the sun heating up Sunday afternoon, I forget about that weary feeling. I was mixing mango and strawberry, thinking about renting a studio and practice my choreo, alone. It's always lovely. But turned out that the studo staff are having event in Bintaro Festival so, okay, plan B has to be done. Making my room as the dance space without Air Conditioner, with natural wind from the opened windows. The benefits of practicing in m...

creating space for my self: monday

Hi, happy Monday, guys. To continue the last report, after a nice dance session with Icha, Dina, Corry, Nindi and Sadia, on Thursday I finally went to the dentist. The whole day my teeth wasn't aching. It was good because the dentist wouldn't have to cost me more for treatment before she fix my teeth with her machines. The dentist is Ivonny Hawari who is also a painter. Nice, right? I trust my teeth to an artist. On Friday, I went teaching the India kids at Somerset apartment. I taught them how to do handwave, now it's a challenge. Even Katelyn had a rough time learning hand wave. It supposed to be my last meeting with them because the next week their teacher, Yola would already be back from Berlin. One of their mom asked my number and wondered if I would teach the moms as well. Of course I would like to! And at the end of the class, one of the moms said "Thank you, you are a great teacher!" Can't you feel the blossom in my heart that time? It feels like...

space for my self: happy sunday

hey, like always, life is an adventure, and my life is always full of surprising things. so I wrote you that I jogged in Senayan, tried that damned Escargot at Union, and then the next day... meeting with IDE our Mobile Dance Lab. at aTavola Kemang. Before it, I ate Pisang Goreng Ketan Hitam at Kedai Kak Ani and got free hot plain tea. It's another food adventure, Medan evening snack, awesome. My mom, due to her Gorontalo root, she eats fried banana with sambal, Kak Lita my cousin who is very westernized, eats fried banana with cheese spread. And this Medan cafe served me fried banana with ketan hitam, my favoritos.

space for myself

hi blog, it's 6:15 AM I'm sitting at the terrace, the sun and the weather is nice, having a black coffee, smoking ciggarettes. There have been so many great things going on, I haven't write you that Yola won an award for her dance film and she fly to Berlin, she made me her substitute teacher for her dance class every Friday evening at Somerset Apartment Kuningan, so I taught those India kids.. around 8-9 years old. They are amazing, I really had fun. I bought a new pants, I'm so going to post the picture here (wait, transfering from my phone...)   nice pants right? It's thick and makes my thighs sweeaat... hahaha! You can say I love the color. And the room was the studio where I handle Yola's students. Kinda weird why the floor is carpeted not wooden? I made freestyle video weeks ago:  http://t.co/RvVamFCO I bought a new bag when I was on the run, because my bag was about to break out haahahaha I avoid that pain-in-the-ass. Here is my new bag: ...

communication

It was Tuesday, September 4, 2012 I had appointment with my old, good friend, Murdining Ratri Nanindra.  Three in the afternoon One dayI showed her a beautiful picture  of a long transjakarta bridge I took with my phone cam after a while ago when I texted her "Would you like to see me dancing on transjakarta bridge with your cinematic eyes?"

awesome

This photo was taken with my phone cam under my legs. It was the evening when Icha was first making the choreography for us. The song is "Swagga Jack Me". As you can see she was sweating and me too. I was taking a break while she was exploring for the next moves. It was the first time in our practice, she put a hat on my head. "Pake topi dong, gue ngerasa nari sama anak kecil", she said. And you know what, those big hats DO give effect. She also taught me that dancing hiphop is not just about doing the routines, but WEAR THE ATTITUDE. So I did, she seems satisfied. The choreography was... original and really cool. I can tell she has her own style and it was really fun and challenging to do her choreography of this song. There was Puka, her cat, which I love the most. As he is a thick fur cat, he likes to be in the air conditioned room. The room where we practice is freaking hot but that evening he hang around us. I suspect he feels the silent euphoria, a ...
